The International Olympic Committee has decided not to pursue an investigation into FIFA President Gianni Infantino, stating that a complaint regarding his political neutrality is beyond its jurisdiction. The complaint was initiated by human rights group FairSquare, which alleged that Infantino violated IOC rules by engaging with U.S. President Donald Trump during the World Cup.
The controversy arose after Trump contacted Infantino to discuss a red card issued to U.S. striker Folarin Balogun, which led to the suspension of the player's one-match ban. The Norwegian Football Federation is also contemplating a formal complaint regarding FIFA's handling of the situation.
