Google has introduced a new feature on the Pixel 11 that allows users to delegate phone calls to its AI, Gemini. This capability includes making reservations, checking product availability, and rescheduling appointments without the user needing to initiate the call themselves. Gemini can navigate automated menus and handle conversations while providing a live transcript for user oversight.
This feature is part of an early experiment for Gemini paid subscribers in the US and follows a previous AI calling feature that lacked user takeover options. Competitors like Meta are also exploring similar technologies.
