Zolani Tete, a former world champion boxer, was fatally shot at his home in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The incident occurred as he was waiting for the gate to open, and two armed suspects attacked him. Tete was 38 years old and had a professional record of 29 wins, 4 losses, and 22 knockouts.
Tete held the WBO bantamweight title from 2017 to 2019 and was training for a comeback after serving a four-year suspension that ended last month. His last fight in 2022 was ruled a no contest due to a positive drug test.
