Del Somerville, 42, has received a two-year prison sentence for violent disorder during an anti-migrant protest in Portsmouth. He pleaded guilty after throwing a bottle and swearing at police during the demonstration on September 6, which followed the arrival of a boat carrying migrants at Eastney Beach.
The judge emphasized that the sentence serves as a deterrent to others involved in similar protests. Somerville is also facing a separate trial for allegedly assaulting a police officer, while four other men await sentencing for related charges.
