Singapore Grand Prix Declared Heat-Hazard Race for Fourth Time

Source: BBC Sport - Published: 08 Oct 2026 09:50

The Singapore Grand Prix has been designated as a heat-hazard race for the fourth time this season, following similar declarations at the Austrian, Italian, and Bahrain Grands Prix. This classification allows teams to use cooling devices to help manage cockpit temperatures, which can exceed 40C during races in the humid conditions of Singapore.

The heat-hazard status is triggered when temperatures are expected to surpass 31C. While teams can opt for cooling systems, some, like Mercedes, have chosen not to due to concerns about performance and comfort. The FIA has offered financial allowances to teams that can develop effective cooling solutions for the demanding conditions.
