Epic Games has officially confirmed that its launcher will support SteamOS and Steam Decks, expanding its compatibility with Linux-based systems. This announcement follows previous discussions about making Fortnite available on SteamOS, although the game’s future on this platform remains uncertain due to ongoing challenges with Easy Anti-Cheat support.
Communications Director Jake Jones indicated that while SteamOS compatibility is now established, it does not guarantee Fortnite's arrival on the platform. The company is in talks with Valve to address the necessary features for Easy Anti-Cheat on Steam Decks.
With the Epic Games Launcher now supporting SteamOS, users should monitor developments regarding Fortnite's potential launch. Key to this will be the resolution of Easy Anti-Cheat compatibility, which could influence the game's viability on Steam Decks.
