A recent poll of 25 NFL scouts identified Drew Mestemaker from Oklahoma State as the leading candidate to be the first quarterback selected in the 2027 NFL Draft, receiving 17 votes. This marks a significant rise for Mestemaker, who was not mentioned in earlier assessments and has impressed with his performances, particularly a standout game against Oregon.
The overall perception of the quarterback class has shifted, with scouts noting a decline in expectations compared to earlier predictions. Other contenders like CJ Carr and Darian Mensah are also gaining attention, but the focus remains on Mestemaker as he prepares for the remainder of the season.
