DoorDash has agreed to pay $131.5 million to settle a New York City investigation that revealed the company underpaid delivery workers or delayed their payments. This settlement, described as the largest labor enforcement action by the city, will provide nearly $115 million in backpay to approximately 264,000 workers, with a median payout of around $48.
The agreement also includes a $16.7 million civil fine and requires DoorDash to submit detailed pay data to the city monthly for three years. Mayor Zohran Mamdani criticized the company's practices, emphasizing the need for accountability in the food delivery sector.
