Angus Council has authorized the demolition of nearly 150 homes in Brechin, which were severely impacted by flooding from Storm Babet in October 2023. The decision follows months of uncertainty for residents, many of whom have been unable to return to their properties since the floodwaters breached defenses in the area.
The council's plan includes not only the demolition of homes but also improvements to flood defenses, with an estimated cost of around £8.2 million. Local officials acknowledge the challenges faced by residents and aim to provide support for those displaced by the demolitions.
