London-based civil servants are being encouraged to relocate to Manchester with the offer of relocation packages. This initiative aligns with the establishment of No 10 North, which will initially operate from Heron House in central Manchester, while a new Digital Campus is under construction and expected to be completed by 2032.
The plan includes hiring around 300 staff from Greater Manchester and the wider North of England within 18 months. Some senior figures from Andy Burnham's former mayoral team are already set to join the new office, indicating a significant shift in government operations to the North.
