Joe Cordina, a former boxing champion, is currently on trial for two counts of assault by beating stemming from a confrontation at a Cardiff petrol station on February 27. Prosecutors argued that Cordina was not acting in self-defense but was retaliating against O'Brien, who had allegedly initiated the confrontation. A charge against Cordina was dropped during the proceedings, and the defense suggested that the incident may have been a setup.
