Gretna Green, known as Scotland's wedding capital, has welcomed the return of blacksmithing with the opening of a new forge. This traditional craft had been absent for over 150 years, despite the long-standing wedding ceremonies held at the anvil in the village. The forge will allow visitors, including newlyweds, to engage in blacksmithing and create personalized keepsakes.
Resident blacksmith Joe Shevelan expressed his excitement about reviving the craft, which historically played a significant role in the community. The initiative aims to inspire a new generation of blacksmiths while providing couples with unique mementos of their marriage.
