Arizona has initiated legal action against L’Oréal, alleging that the company concealed cancer risks associated with its hair relaxer products. This lawsuit, filed by Attorney General Kristin Mayes, marks Arizona as the first state to take such action, claiming violations of consumer protection laws, particularly affecting African American women who predominantly use these products.
The state seeks damages and penalties, as well as a court order to mandate warnings about potential ovarian and uterine cancer risks. This lawsuit aligns with over 12,000 similar claims against L’Oréal and other manufacturers, following a study indicating increased cancer risks for regular users of these products.
