Apple has released an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the new M6 chip, but the previous M5 model is currently available at a $200 discount. The M6 offers only minor performance improvements over the M5, primarily in AI capabilities and wireless connectivity, making the upgrade less compelling for many users.
Both the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 and the 15-inch MacBook Air M5 are on sale, with the latter offering a larger display and a lower price point. Consumers now have attractive options, but the M6 model does not present the same value at this time.
With the M5 MacBook Pro on sale, buyers should weigh the benefits of the superior display and ports against the M6's minor upgrades. Keep an eye on potential price drops for the M6 as Apple adjusts its strategy, especially if the M5 continues to attract attention.
