The ABC and SBS will provide testimony at a royal commission investigating antisemitism and social cohesion, following complaints regarding their coverage of the Middle East. Counsel Richard Lancaster noted that submissions to the inquiry criticized the broadcasters for allegedly unbalanced reporting and story selection related to the conflict.
The commission, established after the Bondi terror attack, will also examine the role of social media in spreading antisemitism. Officials highlighted concerns about online platforms serving as significant channels for hate speech and antisemitic content.
